David Daugherty was shot several times by a passerby while driving on I-70 just east of Denver shortly after midnight on Friday, August 5, 2016. He survived the ordeal but his wounds left him without the use of his legs. He is presently in the care of Craig Hospital in Englewood, CO, where the country’s leading spinal cord specialists are preparing him to thrive in a totally changed world.
The expenses ahead are massive. David’s home must be modified to suit his changed mobility, and yet-to-be-purchased transportation must be specially equipped to enable a new way of driving. In a perfect world, there would also be a few pennies set aside for a hand-operated racer, so David could continue to bike with his friends.
The Daugherty family would be so grateful for any help you can provide. This sudden and tragic event will have lifelong consequences. David’s road will not be easy. From all of us, thanks so much for supporting David and helping him conquer this most difficult challenge.
