Top loading balances (or “top-loaders”) are often used when larger parts or samples that won’t fit on a small weighing surface need to be weighed with repeatability and precision.  These top loading balances have various capacities and resolutions of 0.1 or 1 g. Sometimes these balances are used for checkweighing, counting or filling as well.  J.P.
